What Is Tuck Pointing (And When Do You Need It)?

Tuck pointing is the process of grinding out deteriorated mortar joints and filling them with fresh mortar. Mortar is designed to be the weakest part of your masonry structure—it's the sacrificial layer that protects the brick or stone. When mortar breaks down, water gets in, freezes, expands, and starts destroying the brick itself.
