Ray Arnold waterproofing offers many solutions. Our experts will look at all options with you and then determine the best plan of action to solve your issue.

Interior versus exterior waterproofing

Waterproofing the outside of your foundation is the best way to shore up your basement. Interior waterproofing can prevent water damage from getting worse, but having the repairs done on the outside fixes the weakness where it starts.

Exterior Waterproofing

Our exterior waterproofing services consist of excavating the soil down to the footer drains to inspect and test footer drainage. We replace broken footer drains with perforated pipes. We also assess for any vertical or horizontal faults which may be allowing water to penetrate deep and enter the home. Then we typically use a vapor barrier to tar and seal the wall. Next, we cover the perforated pipe with gravel to allow groundwater to enter and flow away from the foundation.

Interior waterproofing

Interior waterproofing does not stop the water from entering the home. Instead, it controls the water’s path to keep it from damaging your home. We drill weep hoes, break trenches, insert pipes, add gravel and reinstall concrete over the top to give you a seamless look. The pipe is pitched toward a crock or sump crock. Then, the water pumps out of the house through a discharge line.

Sinking Footers

Sinking footers usually cause step cracking that needs to be rebuilt or have peering to fix the issue. Peering is by far easier and more cost-effective for minor issues. However, sometimes a complete rebuild is necessary. Peering consists of driving pipe into the ground like pylons to support the failed footing with a bracket and then using hydraulic cylinders and bolts lift the sunken footer back in place to lock it in permanently.

Bowing and sheared walls are addressed with multiple resources, depending on the severity. The most common ways of fixing bowed walls and shearing is by connecting C channels and Earth plates through rods pushed 14 feet out into the yard and dug a minimum of 36 inches down using the ground to pull the wall back in place over time through a series of tightenings. Sometimes, if the wall is not bowing terribly, carbon armors can be used to support the wall so it will never get worse.
